It has been a highly successful year for Félix Lajkó in 2013. Under the title of Mező, he released his first album fully as a player of the zither (citera), prompting initial lavish praise from critics, followed by the big news that the album had topped the World Music Chart Europe. Félix has been playing the same zither for 30 years which he received from his mother as a child, and the music he produces on it represents a milestone to zither aficionados and players as it reveals a range of sounds hitherto unknown on the instrument. He opens up new aural perspectives, depths and landscapes, revealing something new and perhaps unrepeatable in his concept and playing of the instrument.Often surprising the audience, his New Year concerts at the Palace of Arts transport the listener to new realms year after year – as we will see and hear, on both violin and zither. We can confidently say that this New Year will be no different, and that 2014 also promises many surprises and musical treats for all. Guest star will be 2 Cellos from Croatia.Young cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, known as 2CELLOS, achieved sensational success by taking the cello to a new level and breaking the boundaries between different genres of music. This is their first concert in Hungary ever.
“There are some natural-born talents in whose hands everything becomes music – and in this respect the choice of instrument is irrelevant. Lajkó’s music is primarily about Lajkó, his individuality radiating from every note. It is exactly this quality which guarantees the whirling energy of his music. There is a kind of rustic, naïve power inherent in this music which sweeps the audience along within moments.” (Kornél H. Magyar, fidelio.hu)
